SYMPTOMS
When you use a consolidated project in Microsoft Project, many features
specific to individual files are not available. The
Save To Database
feature does not function while you use a consolidated project, but the
menu item is still available.
If you try to access this feature while using a consolidated file, you will
receive the following error message:
This project cannot be saved because it consists of multiple projects.
WORKAROUND
This behavior is only present when you consolidate the projects with links
to the source data. As a workaround you could recreate the consolidated
file without attaching to the source data. Without the links, you will not
receive the error. To consolidate your projects without attaching to the
source files, do the following:
- Close all open files.
- On the Tools menu, click Multiple Projects. Select
Consolidate Projects.
- Type the names of the files you want to consolidate.
- Click to clear the Attach To Source Projects check box.
- Click OK.
