XFOR: MIME Types in IMC Setup Limit Extensions to 16 Characters

SUMMARY

You can configure the Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME) content type and corresponding file extension mappings so that the Internet Mail Connector (IMC) will automatically decode the contents of a MIME message.

When setting up Associated Extensions on the MIME Types tab in the IMC property page, the length of the Associated Extensions is limited to a maximum of 16 characters.

According to Microsoft Knowledge Base article
137754, Windows 95 will allow much longer extensions when specifying the MIME Extensions in My Computer-View-Options-FileTypes. These MIME entries will also be read when receiving Internet Mail.
