SYMPTOMS
When you fax a Binder file, the Compose New Fax Wizard appears for each
section in the Binder.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs when the following conditions are all true:
- You set up a fax modem and a fax driver such as Microsoft Fax or
WinFax Pro.
-and-
- You create a Binder file that has more than one section.
-and-
- On the File menu, you click Print Binder, click the fax driver in the
Name list, and click OK.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a limitation of the fax drivers
mentioned in this article. We are researching this problem and will post
new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes
available.
MORE INFORMATION
The problem occurs because each section in the Binder is first printed to a
file that the Binder program then sends as a stream of data to the
printer device. The fax drivers mentioned above treat each file that is
sent to the printer as a separate print job, while other printer drivers do
not differentiate between each print job.
NOTE: The Compose New Fax Wizard appears n + 1 times in WinFax Pro, where n
is the number of sections in the Binder file.
A variation of this problem also occurs if you click Start, point to
Programs, click Windows Explorer, right-click the Binder file and point to
Send To, and click the fax driver. In this scenario, only the first section
of the Binder will be faxed; the other sections will not be sent.
