SUMMARY

Works has an option to use use smart quotes when typing in the Word Processor. Smart quotes are different than straight quotes by being curved. Some TrueType and many non-TrueType fonts do not use smart quotes; these fonts may display and print smart quotes as another character. Some examples are: Courier, Line Printer, Modern, and MS LineDraw.

If your document is displaying or printing quotation marks incorrectly, you can use a different font, or turn smart quotes off on the Tools menu, the Options dialog, the Editing tab.

To replace all smart quotes in a document with straight quotes, do the following:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the Editing tab, clear the check next to Use Smart Quotes, and click OK.
  3. On the Edit menu, click Replace.
  4. In the Find What box, type a quotation mark (").
  5. In the Replace With box, type another quotation mark.
  6. Click Replace All.
  7. Click Close.
All the smart quotes in the document have now been replaced by straight quotes.
