The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSIn either of the 3D Texture Editors, you cannot map textures onto models that have Transparency or Reflectivity values set into their material.
CAUSEBy design, the default values for Transparency and Reflectivity (Default=0) do not allow for the mapping of textures on models that have Transparency or Reflectivity values set into their material.
RESOLUTIONTo map texture onto a Transparent or Reflective object, move the default values of either Transparency, Reflectivity, or both (whichever effects are applied to the object) one step away from zero (0); that is, move it up to 0.001 or down to -0.001. For the same reason, when animating Texture Transparency or Reflectivity values, make sure that no zero (0) values occur in the animation f/curve.
STATUSThis behavior is by design. NOTE: Softimage is a wholly owned subsidiary of Microsoft Corporation.
