SYMPTOMS

Colors that appear bright and vibrant when you create them in a Works Spreadsheet chart appear washed out and faded when you print or view the chart in print preview.

This occurs because the default pattern for charts is not set to solid.

RESOLUTION

Change the pattern setting for the chart to solid. To change the pattern setting for the chart, do the following:

Open the spreadsheet document that contains the chart.
On the View menu, click Chart. Select the Chart from the list. Click OK.
On the Format menu, click Shading And Color.
In the Patterns list box, click Solid, and then click Format All.
Click Close.

Chart colors should now appear brighter when printed or when you view them in print preview.

When you create a chart in a Works spreadsheet, the default pattern is set to Auto. The Auto pattern setting sets all chart components to a dense pattern rather than a solid pattern. This causes the chart colors to appear faded when printed. Changing the chart pattern to solid resolves this.

If the chart pattern is not set to solid, chart colors on the screen appear brighter than when they are printed unless you select the View menu Display As Printed option.

The Display As Printed option shows the chart on screen as it appears when printed.
