Error Performing Query, Incorrect Userid or Password

SYMPTOMS

When you run an IDC script that connects to an AS/400 using the StarSQL ODBC driver that is included with SNA Server version 2.11, you may get the following error message from your web browser.

Error Performing Query

* [State=28000][Error=0][Star Ware][StarSQL ODBC Driver] Incorrect
userid or password


CAUSE

This message occurs when you incorrectly type the Username: and Password: in the IDC script.

These symptoms can also be caused when you type the correct password in the incorrect case.


RESOLUTION

Make sure to capitalize the Username: and Password: fields in the IDC script file.


MORE INFORMATION

When you troubleshoot this problem, you will notice:

  1. The user is able to receive a sign-on screen from the AS/400 after typing the same User ID: and Password in the session sign-on when he or she uses the 5250 applet.


  2. The user is able to query the AS/400 database correctly when he or she uses the MS Query tool after typing the same User ID and Password when selecting the datasource.


The 5250 applet and the MS Query tool capitalize the session signon User ID and Password. In the case where you are typing the Username and Password in the IDC script, neither the Internet Information Server (IIS) nor the StarSQL ODBC driver capitalize the Username and Password. This can result in the error message above being returned to the browser.
