The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSWhen you attempt to connect to MSN, The Microsoft Network, MSN may stop responding (hang) when you see the "Connecting to Microsoft Network" message.
CAUSEThis behavior can occur if the Ccdialer.exe file is missing or damaged, or if the PPP connection is not made correctly.
RESOLUTIONTo fix a damaged or missing ccdialer.exe, follow these steps:
95 disks or CD-ROM to the Program Files\The Microsoft Network folder.The Ccdialer.exe file is located in the Win95_07.cab cabinet file in theWin95 folder on the CD-ROM, or in the Win95_08.cab cabinet file on disk 8 ofthe floppy disk set.For information about using the Extract tool, type "extract" (without quotation marks) at a command prompt, or see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

from the menu.3. Click the Server Type button or tab. 4. Remove the check from the ‘Enable Software Compression’ box. 5. Click the TCP/IP Settings button. 6. Clear the ‘Use IP Header Compression’ check box. 7. Click OK until all dialog boxes are closed. If neither of these steps corrects the problem, remove and reinstal Dial-Up Networking. To remove and reinstall Dial-Up Networking follow these steps:
INSOCK.DLL7. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. 8. Double click Network. 9. Remove all the network components. DO NOT RE-START! 10. Double click Add/Remove Programs. 11. Select the Windows Setup tab. 12. Double click Communications. 13. Remove the check from Dial Up Networking. 14. Close Control Panel and re-start the computer. 15. Re-choose the access numbers. This should replace all the files.
