Scaling is only available with PostScript printers. With other printers, you control the vertical dimension with fonts, row height, and the bar size with Gantt Charts.

To increase or decrease the vertical dimension, use the following steps:

1. On the Format menu, click Text Styles.
2. In the Items To Change list, click All. (This assumes that you want all tasks to use the same font, style and size.)
3. In the Font list, click a font, in the Font Style list, click a style, and in the Size list, click a size. Click OK.
   
   The size of each line is controlled by the font size you choose. The smaller the font, the more information you can fit on the page.
4. On the View menu, click Table:Entry, and then click More Tables.
   
   Note: Your menu may have a different table name such as "Table:Cost"
5. In the More Tables dialog box, click a table, and then click Edit.
   
   The Table Definition dialog box appears.
6. In the Row Height box, type "1".
7. On the Format menu, click Layout, and in the Layout dialog box, set a Bar Height. You can choose an integer between 6 and 24. In most cases, you want to use the same integer you used as the font size in Step 1 above.
8. On the Format menu, click Bar Styles, and in the Bar Styles dialog box, look at the Row column.
   
   If the value 2 is entered in the Row column for any style, change these entries to 1. (When the Row column has a 2, then all rows will be a line height of 2.)
9. On the Format menu, click Bar Styles, and then click the Text tab. Make sure that you do not have an entry in the Top or Bottom position applied to any of the bars. This will increase row heights to accommodate text above or below the Gantt bars.

To increase or decrease the horizontal dimension, use the following steps:

1. On the Format menu, click Timescale.
2. On the Timescale tab, in the Enlarge box located in the lower-left corner, type an integer between 25 and 1,000. This will increase or decrease the column width of the Timescale.
   
   For example, if your Timescale is displaying 15 months and you want only 5 months to be displayed, type 300 in the Enlarge box.

Microsoft Project will calculate the space between each unit in the minor Timescale to be 3 times larger. Other features available in the Timescale dialog box that you can use to modify the horizontal size of the display are Major and Minor Scale Units, and the Count field (which will allow you to adjust the intervals of the units and the label of the units).

When the Enlarge value in the Timescale is set to a value other than 100 percent, and the Fit Timescale To Page option in Page Setup is selected, the Enlarge option is ignored when you print your project. To turn off this option so that the timescale enlarge factor is not ignored, do the following:

1. On the File menu, click Page Setup.
2. Click the View tab and deselect the Fit Timescale to Page option. Click Ok.

If you need to decrease the horizontal dimension, you can also reduce the number of or reduce the width of the columns displayed in the Gantt chart. To reduce the number of columns displayed, move the split bar between the Timescaled and sheet portion to cover the fields you wish to hide.
