PRB: Current Activity in SEM May Not Be Displayed

SYMPTOMS

The current activity display window under SQL Enterprise Manager (SEM) may be blank.


CAUSE

SQL Server uses Tempdb for storing certain temporary results for displaying the current activity graph by creating certain temporary objects. If the Select-Into/Bulkcopy option for Tempdb is switched to False, the Server is not able to create those objects and hence the user activity window may appear blank.


RESOLUTION

Set the Select-Into/Bulkcopy option to True for the (Tempdb)Temporary Databases and restart SQL Enterprise Manager.
