BUG: Random Crashes When Scenes Loaded One on Top of the Other

Last reviewed: April 19, 1996
Article ID: Q149721
The information in this article applies to:
  • Softimage 3D for IRIX, version 3.0

SYMPTOMS

Random crashes occur in Softimage 3D when scenes are loaded one on top of the other.

CAUSE

The problem is due to the existence of forgotten Rotoscopy information in the Setup file.

RESOLUTION

Users may forget that they have used the Rotoscopy view and that the information was saved in a Setup file. When this Setup file is used with their current scenes, the Setup file causes the problem.

Remove each reference to the Rotoscopy in the Setup file as follows:

  1. Search for the token DO_DRAW_OVER.

  2. Remove both that line and the following two lines.

STATUS

Softimage has confirmed this to be a bug in the Softimage products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
