MXL5: Last Row of Button Image May Turn Black

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, if you click Toolbars on the View menu, click Customize, and then click Edit Button Image, if the button icon is selected, then the custom icon may be saved in the toolbar file with the bottom row of pixels turned black.

When the tool icons are changed from small to large, all rows of pixels from row 15 down may become black.

This problem has been observed with Microsoft Excel version 5.0a installed from Office 4.2.1 or Office 4.2.1b on Power Macintosh machines running System 7.5.1.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, do a clean installation of Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Office. A clean installation of the Macintosh operating system may be required before you install the program or programs.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
