PRB: Specified Directory Is Empty After eddiebatch Render

Last reviewed: April 29, 1996
Article ID: Q150372
The information in this article applies to:
  • Softimage Eddie for IRIX, version 3.2a

SYMPTOMS

The specified directory is empty after a Softimage Eddie stand-alone eddiebatch render has been run on remote hosts.

When running an eddiebatch render, the eddiebatch options are used to do the following:

  1. Specify the range of frames to be rendered.

  2. Specify a new directory into which the rendered frames are to be put.

  3. Name the new image files.

The eddiebatch render proceeds and completes the task, but when the specified directory is checked, it is empty.

RESOLUTION

The following user errors can cause the specified directory to be empty after an eddiebatch render:

  • The specified directory is read-only but eddiebatch does not differentiate and renders as normal.
  • There is a typo in the directory name or path.
  • You neglected to enter a directory and its absolute path.

Be aware of this and be careful when running a Softimage Eddie stand-alone eddiebatch render on remote hosts, as eddiebatch will render to a void if it is instructed to without any indication that something is wrong.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
