PRB: Collating Sequences Not Displayed in the Setup Dialog

ID: Q150502

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft ODBC Driver for Visual FoxPro, version 1.0

SYMPTOMS

In the ODBC Visual FoxPro Setup dialog, the Collating Sequence combo box does not list all of the collating sequences usually available for a specific code page. For example, if you are running the U.S. version of Windows (code page 437), the German-Phone Book and the Unique Weight collating sequences are not displayed in the combo box.

CAUSE

The FoxPro.int file, which is installed with the Visual FoxPro ODBC driver version 1.0, is not in the corrrect location. This file stores the collating sequence information that is missing.

RESOLUTION

To list all of the collation sequences available for a specific code page, ensure that the FoxPro.int file is correctly copied to the appropriate directory, as listed below.

  • If you are running Windows 95, the FoxPro.int file should reside in the Windows\System directory.

  • If you are running Windows NT, the FoxPro.int file should reside in the Windows\System32 directory.

To copy this file to the correct location, you can run the Setup program for the Visual FoxPro ODBC driver version 1.0.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

MORE INFORMATION

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Call the ODBC 32-bit administrator.

  2. In the User Data Source list, select the Microsoft Visual FoxPro Driver, and click Setup.

  3. Click the Options button.

  4. Open the list of collating sequences.

If the FoxPro.int is correctly installed, you should see a list of possible collating sequences, including German-phone book. If the file is not in the Windows\System directory, the German-phone book collating sequence is not in the list.
