SYMPTOMS

Entering a new task initiates the edit mode. Clicking into an invalid area, such as the graph portion of a view, does not end the edit mode and enter the task defaults, but instead leaves the edit mode still active.

WORKAROUND

To end the edit mode, click into any field on another row in the sheet. You can also click into another field on the same row to continue the edit process, and then press the ENTER key or click on another row when you are finished.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
