MORE INFORMATION

This message occurs when you enter a transaction for a payee that also has a bill or deposit listed in the Bill & Deposit Calendar in Money 2001 and later, or the Bill Calendar or the Payment Calendar in earlier versions of Money that meets the following criteria:
  • The transaction date is in five days of the bill in the Payment Calendar.
  • The transaction has the same category as the bill in the Payment Calendar.
  • The transaction is paid from the same account.
Money looks for matches between entries made in the Account Register and bills or deposits scheduled in the Payment Calendar by payee name and then date.

If you enter a check for a monthly bill in the Account Register, instead of using the Payment Calendar to enter it in the Account Register for you, this dialog box allows you to mark the current bill as paid in the Payment Calendar.

If you enter a check for a purchase other than your recurring bill, click No to retain the current bill in the Payment Calendar. You are still reminded to pay it when it becomes due, for example:

You have a charge account at XYZ store that you pay $100 every month. You enter a monthly recurring bill to pay $100 to XYZ store from your checking account with XYZ Charge as the category in the Payment Calendar to remind you to pay it.

You make a $50 purchase from XYZ store and decide to pay for it by check instead of charging it. You enter the check for $50 to XYZ store with XYZ Charge as the category in the Account Register in five days of the scheduled payment.

Money looks for a match in the Payment Calendar following the criteria listed earlier in this article. When it finds it, Money displays the Bill Match dialog box. Clicking No enters this one-time transaction and retains your next monthly payment in the Payment Calendar.
