PSS ID Number: 150710
Article Last Modified on 10/21/2000
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Excel for Windows 95 7.0
This article was previously published under Q150710
SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Excel version 7.0, if a custom number format of ";;;@" or
";;;_(@_)" is used in a cell, any further formatting in that cell will
cause the program to stop responding.
CAUSE
There are built-in accounting formats of "_($* #,##0_);_($* (#,##0);_($* "-
"_);_(@_)" and "_(* #,##0_);_(* (#,##0);_(* "-"_);_(@_)" in the Custom
category of Format/Cells and Number tab in Microsoft Excel version 7.0
which work without problems. Using the built in Accounting formats and
removing the code between the semicolons so as to get the same format of
";;;_(@_)" also causes Microsoft Excel version 7.0 to stop responding.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem
and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it
becomes available.
