SYMPTOMS

After you install the Microsoft Exchange Client for Windows 3.x you might receive the following error message:
Invalid VxD dynamic link call to device number 0489, service 0006. Your Windows configuration is invalid. Run the Windows Setup program again to correct this problem.

CAUSE

If you are running Microsoft TCP/IP version 3.11a for Windows for Workgroups, you will receive this error.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, upgrade to version 3.11b of Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows for Workgroups.
