SYMPTOMS

If you try print using Microsoft Word for Windows after applying Service Pack 4 (SP4) and your printer uses RASDD.DLL, you may experience the following symptom. If you choose Duplex Printing and Background Printing, the output may be destroyed.

CAUSE

SP4 comes with a new version of RASDD.DLL. This DLL causes the problem.

RESOLUTION

Replace RASDD.DLL with the version from SP3.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Service Pack 4 for Windows NT version 3.51. Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
