SYMPTOMS
When using the print merge feature in Works, such as merging a form letter,
page of labels, or group of envelopes, you may receive either of the
following error messages:
Field not found in database <field name>: Continue anyway?
No fields in this document.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs if you are using a font that does not support the
chevron characters "<<" and ">>" (ASCII characters 0171 and 0187).
RESOLUTION
Use a font that supports the chevron characters so they are visible on
the screen. This allows you to properly edit field names.
MORE INFORMATION
When you use a font that does not support the chevron characters and you
insert a field name placeholder, Works assumes the chevron characters even
though they do not appear on the screen.
NOTE: This behavior may also occur if you edit the text or label. It is
possible to place extra spaces or characters within the field name without
being aware of it. If that happens, you receive an error message when you
attempt to run the mail merge.
