TMGR: When Cut/Paste Fails, Data Is Still Copied to Clipboard

SYMPTOMS

When you try cut data from the Profile Information view on the People tab, the operation fails, and you receive the following message

<field> cannot be left blank

where <field> is the name of the Profile Information field from which you tried to cut data.

NOTE: The data that you tried to cut is still copied to the Clipboard.

CAUSE

Microsoft Team Manager incorrectly allows a Cut operation on mandatory fields. Because a Cut operation is designed to remove the selected data, Microsoft Team Manager displays the message described in the "Symptoms" section.

WORKAROUND

Instead of using the Cut command, use the Copy command.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post more information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
