                              Device Management

The device management utility is used to configure, monitor, and manage
the devices under the control of Media Manager.

The different areas of the window are briefly explained below:

Menu Bar
  The menu that you pull down from this menu bar contain options for
  configuring devices and media, and options for managing use of devices and
  media (for example, assigning a drive to a mount request).

Pending Requests
  This is a list of the pending mount requests on this system. This list can
  be displayed or not displayed with the "Pending Requests" toggle in the
  "View" menu.

Drive Status
  This is a list that shows the status of the drives under control of Media
  Manager. This list can be displayed or not displayed with the "Drive Status"
  toggle in the "View" menu.

Device Configuration
  This is a list of the devices, robots and drives, configured in Media Manager
  for this host.  This list can be displayed or not displayed with the "Drive
  Configuration" toggle in the "View" menu. The drive configuration can be
  displayed in either brief or full mode with the "Brief" and "Full" toggles
  in the "View" menu.

Operator and system message area
  The second message box from the bottom of the windows identifies the user name
  of the user currently using xdevadm, and the host name of the system it is 
  running on.

Message area
  The bottom message box in the window shows messages when pending requests
  exists and various other messages. For example when a mount request is posted,
  the message "PENDING REQUESTS EXIST" appears.
