and barcode rules. This dialog contains a scrolled list of the
items to be deleted. Clicking on the OK push button will cause
xvmadm to proceed with the delete of the items. The Cancel button
will cancel the delete and close the Delete dialog. The Help button
	will display this text.

The following are descriptions of Delete operations for volumes,
volume pools, volume groups, and barcode rules.

	Deleting Single or Multiple Volumes

	1. Check the Time Assigned column in the Volume list to see if any of
the volumes you want to delete have been assigned to NetBackup or
	   another application.

If any of these volumes has a time and date in this column, then it
cannot be deleted until it is deassigned by the application.

	2. After all volumes you want to delete are deassigned, select them in
the Volumes list in the Media Management window. Selected volumes
	   are highlighted.

	3. Choose Delete from the Actions menu.

A dialog box appears asking you to confirm the deletion. Choose OK to
proceed or Cancel to cancel the deletion.

If you selected only one side of a platter, the other side is also
	   automatically deleted.

Remember, this operation only deletes volumes from the database, or
volume configuration. You must still physically remove them from the
	   storage device.

	Deleting a Volume Group

	1. Check the Time Assigned column in the Volume list to see if any of
the volumes you want to delete have been assigned to NetBackup or
	   another application.

If any of these volumes has a time and date in this column, then it
cannot be deleted until it is deassigned by the application.

If there are assigned volumes in the volume group they can be moved
into another volume group before the delete.

	2. After all volumes in the volume groups you want to delete are
deassigned or moved to another group, select the desired
volume groups from the Volume Groups list in the Media Management
window. Selected volume groups are highlighted.

	3. Choose Delete from the Actions menu.

A dialog box appears asking you to confirm the deletion. Choose OK to
proceed or Cancel to cancel the deletion.

Deleting a volume group will delete all the volumes in the volume
	   group.

Remember, this operation only deletes volumes from the database, or
volume configuration. You must still physically remove them from the
	   storage device.

	Deleting a Volume Pool

	1. Ensure that the volume pool is empty.

If necessary, change the volume pool name for any volumes in that
pool. Or, if they are not needed, delete them.

	2. Select the desired pool from the Volume Pools list in the xvmadm main
	   window.

	3. Choose Delete from the Actions menu.

You are prompted for verification before the pool is deleted.

	Deleting a Barcode Rule

	1. Select the desired Barcode Rule from the list of rules in the
	   Barcode Rules dialog.

	2. Click on the delete button in the Barcode Rules dialog.

A dialog box appears asking you to confirm the deletion. Choose OK to
proceed or Cancel to cancel the deletion.
