The files in the /opt/SUNWadm/2.3/floppy directory can be used
to create an i386 MDB floppy so that the system will always
boot from the network, like after a power failure. This
feature is intended to be used with i386-based AutoClients so
that they automatically boot from their server after a power cycle.
(However, the MDB floppy will also work for i386-based diskless
clients.)

The mk_floppy command works with MDB boot floppies for Solaris 2.5.1
and earlier releases.

To create the AutoClient MDB floppy, you will need your master
Solaris MDB boot floppy and a blank 1.44 MB diskette. The second
diskette will be formatted, so do not use a floppy with any data
on it.

As root, use the cd command to change to this directory and run
the mk_floppy command. It will prompt for the master MDB floppy
and the blank floppy. Once the floppy has been created, you must
leave it in the drive on the i386 AutoClient so that the machine
will automatically boot from the network if a power cycle occurs.

The following are step by step instructions for creating the floppy.

1) Become root

2) Type: cd /opt/SUNWadm/2.3/floppy

3) Type: ./mk_floppy

The script prompts you to insert the appropriate diskette. For
example:

% su
# ./mk_floppy
Please insert the master MDB floppy and press Return:
Please insert a blank floppy and press Return:
