<h1>Cluster  Volume Manager</h1>

The Cluster Volume Manager (CVM) organizes data blocks on physical
disks into logical volumes, which makes disk data independent of the
physical pathname of the disk drives.  The CVM is also responsible for
disk concatenation, striping, and volume replication (mirroring) to
coordinate all nodes in the cluster.  For replicated volumes, the volume
manager is responsible for masking bad block errors and failed disks to
the database system.  The volume manager also coordinates recovery of a
mirrored volume after a failed disk is replaced. <p>

The CVM supports shared disk groups and is used with <a href="sc/ops">
Oracle7 Parallel Server</a>
