<title>Quorum Device</title>
<h1>Quorum Device</h1>

The system votes by majority quorum to prevent network partitioning.
In the case of a cluster with two active nodes, the system uses an
external storage device, a controller or a disk, to vote by majority
quorum. This device is called the quorum device.
<p>

Voting in this manner ensures that the
    <a href="sc/sc_system">SC</a>
software runs on only a single node of a SC
    <a href="sc/cluster">cluster</a> when both
    <a href="sc/private_net">private networks</a>
in the system have failed and the nodes can no longer
communicate with each other. <p>
