VxVM (Veritas Volume Manager)

VxVM (Veritas Volume Manager) organizes data blocks on physical disks
into logical volumes, which makes disk data independent of the
physical pathname of the disk drives. VxVM is also responsible for
disk concatenation, striping, and volume replication (mirroring) to
coordinate all nodes in the cluster. For replicated volumes, the
volume manager is responsible for masking bad block errors and failed
disks to the database system. The volume manager also coordinates
recovery of a mirrored volume after a failed disk is replaced.

VxVM does not support shared disk groups and is used with
Informix XMP databases.
