If you came accross the following message in your Solaris/Sparc syslog;
then this patch is for you!

 scsi: [ID 10019010 kern.notice]    ASC: 0x6f (Mismatched region to this logical unit), ASCQ: 0x4, FRU: 0x0

This is likely to happen if you are trying to view a region-2 Video
DVD on a region-1 DVD-ROM drive with a DVD player (Ogle comes to mind).

*) UPLOADING A NEW FIRMWARE

1) Upgrading to the patched RPC1 1010 firmware on the SD-M1401 DVD-ROM:

Assuming that your SCSI DVD-ROM SD-M1401 drive is at /dev/rdsk/c0t6d0s2, run:
./optdload_1010_rpc1.bin -d /dev/rdsk/c0t6d0s2

(This will make use of of file '1010f.hex' from patch rpc1.org

2) Reverting to the original (unpatched) RPC2 1009 firmware on the SD-M1401 DVD-ROM:

Assuming that your SCSI DVD-ROM SD-M1401 drive is at /dev/rdsk/c0t6d0s2, run:
./optdload_1009_rpc2.bin -d /dev/rdsk/c0t6d0s2

(This will make use of of file 'Yg1009.hex' from patch 111649-03 provided
here for your convenience)

*) FAQ
Q1) What if my drive is at firmware level 1007?
A1) Upgrade to firmware 1009 using the official patch, then update to 1010.

Q2) Can this tool be used for some other drives?
A2) No, but it's likely that the corresponding SUN patch could
be adapted if it exists and if a corresponding rpc1 firmware exists.
Alternatively, put this drive in a PC and flash it from there.
