DECnet plus can't start becauseEsome parameter values are not big enough. During installation, theretDwas probably an AUTOGEN operation that failed or was skipped. It isHcomplaining about the parameter VIRTUALPAGECNT here, but if you fix thisHthere could be others. Don't try to fix this by hand. (Virtualpagecnt,Iroughly speaking, limits the amount of memory a process can use, and thisn'isn't enough for some chunk of DECnet.)iFI don't recall whether autogen is run by the DECnet installer, or whenEyou run the configuration procedure. You NEED an autogen, and DECnetGshould add some starting values to your SYS$SYSTEM:MODPARAMS.DAT before0Kit runs autogen. As the message suggested, you should read the appropriateqLsections in the DECnet-plus Installation and Configuration Guide. DependingOon what in-between state you are in now, you might need to just run autogen, oriJrun the decnet configuration utility, or maybe even reinstall decnet-plus.JAutogen is documented in the System Management Utilities Reference Manual, chapter 6. SeedEhttp://www.openvms.compaq.com:8000/72final/6258/6048pro_contents.htmlrEIn general, you should read and follow the advice in any Installation9Jand Configuration document that comes with a VMS software product. UnlikeEmany other platforms, these documents are GOOD, and it is pretty rareaHthat they fail to tell you something you need to know. A beginner risksPbig headaches if he skips these -- and an old hand isn't altogether safe either.GRead the whole thing before you start, and then read it again as you goDthrough the procedure.
