This cluster-alias is a second IP address=	that will be served up by one of your cluster members; it is@	controlled by a cluster-wide lock. The first system to activateA	multinet will create and hold this lock. It will own and respond@	to the cluster-alias address. Well, not quite: A reason I can see is that the file-id version :Kcontains long file names, and the text version contains a short file name. LIThus, the limitation might be a file name buffer in DIRECTORY whose size iKis insufficient to contain all the text for the long file names in the sub-Jdirectory; thus, the XQP or RMS switch to abbreviated mode (using the fileMid triple) for these, and use the full name for the other. DIRECTORY sees twoANdifferent subdirectory names in the resultant strings, and doesn't notice thatKin reality, these two are the same - indeed, without looking at the file idfMit can't make this decision (but it knows the file id because DIRECTORY reads #and parses directory files itself).mKSummary: You've found what I would call a bug in DIRECTORY, and what others1Jmight call an ODS5-induced misfeature. If it isn't fixed, a documentation #note is the least that is required.i	Jan------------------------------%Date: Thu, 12 Apr 2001 12:27:15 -0400C-From: John Reagan <reagan@hiyall.zko.dec.com>0@Subject: Re: strange behaviour of DIRECTORY with long file names2Message-ID: <3AD59F23.39EF77A2@hiyall.zko.dec.com>Wayne Sewell wrote:u> > F> Note: a volume must be initialized as ODS-5 for any of this to work.> CJust to clarify on what Wayne said, you don't have to pick ODS-5 ati@initialization time.
