It usesD basically the same metal layout as the 0.25 um EV67 but is made in aD 0.18 um process so the transistor drawn gate lengths can be narrowedE to 0.18 um. This doesn't give you the full performance of a true 0.18 D um device but is certainly faster to market. Yes of O course I have backup solutions and other PCs to go at, with a trip to a server  I room as a last resort, but why introduce some element which is out of my   control?  M At the other end of the scale I have a 2 workstation cluster for development  Q work - when our network failed the other week (someone forgot to plug in a cable  E after maintenance work - Duh!), that cluster happily kept on running.  ___ 

VMS wasN probably one of the few operating systems that even had the capability.  SinceH all of the users of the system were in the same physical location and weJ weren't part of any wide area network, we rarely used mail.  We used phoneO (actual telephone or the VMS PHONE utility) to communicate with each other.  Or N we just walked down the damn hall.  For the first ten years of my vms usage, I5 sent and received only a handful of email messages.     N Because of the lack of prominence of email in the early days, digital's use ofM the term mailbox for an interprocess communication pseudodevice did not cause ' any particular confusion that I recall.   @ You can't blame someone when terminology changes after the fact.  O For instance, "hacker" was once a positive term.  Once upon a time, I was proud O to be one. One day, I noticed that the VAX rebooted suddenly without reason,N without error, without nothing. After many searches, the Field Service finallyC came and they discovered that the power supply fan was not working.s  M Imagine what happened. The PDP 11/03 which was used to load the microcode was L going up into temperature, then a security mechanism turned it off. When theP temperature was back to normal, the PDP booted, then said "Ah, I boot.
