a university system).II do not have a DEC monitor, so I'm using a serial cable connected to theX7comm port & my PC. So far its working fine "headless".oJWhat I would like is for the system to automatically boot when powered up.LI set the "Auto_Action" to BOOT on the console, but when I flip on the powerHswitch it just comes up to the console prompt >>> and sits there until Itype in boot and enter.LWhat I'm I missing... I don't have any documention so I've search the compagLsite and found a Dec 3000-600/700/800 model setup documentionation (PDF) but	thats it.EISecond, I would like to get a monitor to use with DECWindows. I was toldeIthat the card was 1280 x 1024 @ 66Hz, but I'm not sure that's correct. IgHread somewhere that it might be 1280 x 1024 @72Hz. Does anyone know theGspec's for a Turbo Channel PMAGB-BA (from the console config) card? IsNIthere a way to set the resolution to a different setting (ie 66Hz - so myqJmonitor will display). Does the bulit-in graphic card display at a lower-refresh rate (has one below the serial ports.+@Do you know what monitors are compatable (stock) with this card."Thanks for all you help in advanceMike------------------------------Date: 3 Jan 2001 15:34:15 PSTCTFrom: Fairfield@SLAC.Stanford.EDU (Ken Fairfield; SLAC: 650-926-2924; FAX: 926-3515)ASubject: Re: Auto-booting & monitor for DEC 3000-300L w/ PMAGB-BAF3Message-ID: <mgQ5Qes1W3Ay@mccdev.slac.stanford.edu>s-In article <9305vh02hnk@enews4.newsguy.com>, u@ "Michael Holmes" <NOSPAM.raider@NOSPAM.mindless.com> writes:[...]WL> What I would like is for the system to automatically boot when powered up.N> I set the "Auto_Action" to BOOT on the console, but when I flip on the powerJ> switch it just comes up to the console prompt >>> and sits there until I> type in boot and enter.H[...]TH What does >>> SHOW tell you about AUTO_ACTION after you powerH cycle the beast? I've encountered some Windows-based software_that would not work properly with a USB-to-Serial device because the software was coded to workaYdirectly with the UART chip that traditional PC hardware serial ports are based on.
