I now have in my hands a Alphserver 4100 5/400.  FourL (4) Processors.   Two (2) Gig of memory.  Dual Triple SCSI RAID Controllers. Bad Ass MF.   K Also I got it from salvage so no Hard drives.  I hooked a 4.3 Gig Barracuda J to the Onboard.  This wouldn't boot anything and was givingh me error so IJ pulled to two SCSI RAID cards.  Then it would boot a NETBSD BSD but I quit to get coffee.  E However I went to boot the V/A 7.3 I used on the DEC3000 to check the < hardware and it faults with an exception and returns to SRM.J I then booted the Firmware update and updated fine but still the same whenH trying the 7.3. Config is:-   %   Data collector = AM V2.2, VMS 7.2-2 +   Data Analyzer  = AM V2.2, Windows2000 SP2 ; The machines are on the same LAN (no routers, bridges etc.)   N Data collector starts OK, uses EWA0 as LAN device (checked using MC LANCP showO config /user). Analyzer on W2K client starts OK and after several seconds shows L the collector node in the group and node panes but the status colour remainsK yellow but no other information shown. Does it ever hurt to ask?)  F    But, the problem may be a very small one.  How many products can beE installed onto a disk which is too full to hold an expanded kit?  Not D very many, I'd guess.  I haven't checked, but if UNZIP can spew to aF TK50, the expanded kit space problem could be worked around that way. G (For VMSINSTALL, at least.  Can PCSI work from a tape?)  Cluster-shared ; disks from a system with more space is often possible, too.   D    A critical subset of kits should be left uncompressed, to allow aB stand-alone installation. This will cause all processes to acquire the terminal Q characteristics at login time.  The SYLOGIN.TEMPLATE file should have an example a of this.  J Another gotcha.  What's the protection of SYS$MANAGER:SYLOGIN.COM?  For a J non-prived user to access the file, it needs to have the protection W:RE. O Otherwise, what it does for you at login will not happen, and, you will not be  L notified that the procedure wasn't invoked. Is there another emulator available thatJ has networking support?
