It hadn't been used for a K couple of months. It sits in an expansion cabinet next to a CDROM drive. If G I want to install VMS or a layered product the disk is used to copy the I installation files to because a hard disk is a lot faster than installing  directly from CD. J I removed the disk, kept it in my left hand (pcb turned upwards toward theI palm) and slapped the top in my right hand. Put it back and it started to I spin up again. A 300 MHz 1000A is not the fastest system around but for L a hobbyist system it is quite acceptable. IIRC on subsequent boots all volumes thatK were part of the system disk shadow set will be added automatically. I assume that's what came with it originally.
