Yes, VMS machines which Ireceive email will get these viruses. Yes, there can be so many that it amounts to a denial of service."@Of course, VMS is not affected in the sense that a PC is, where Gfollowing the instructions in such a message can wreak havoc on the PC -)and aid in the distribution of the virus.1DA new quality of viruses now exists: those which harvest legitimate Faddresses from "address books" on PCs. In the past, as long as one's Hemail address was not publicly visible (i.e. not in a newsgroup posting For on the web), one didn't even get such messages. Still, the "only" 4problem with VMS is the amount of messages received.GPresumably, virus-filtering is done with virus-filtering software. Or vGis there now something part of TCPIP Services which does content-based rvirus filtering?EThe misuse of their position as maintainer of the .COM and .NET root wHservers by Verisign is probably aiding the virus spread, since anti-spam-measures based on domain name no longer work. FI suggest that everyone who is in a position to do so sue Verisign forFdamages. Keep in mind that their criminal misuse of their position isElegally a separate issue from civil cases demanding compensation (cf.sCO.J.
