Only the later>VAXen and VAXstations had the console firmware in flash and socould be updated.FThe rest had firmware in EPROM and so required a physical swap for an Dupgrade. Given that an upgrade in those cases would cost real money,Bthey only occurred if really needed, and then only on an as-neededbasis.@Some VAXen could have the microcode patched (VAX-11/750 and VAX A82x0/83x0 spring to mind) so those sometimes had patch files thatBshipped as part of an OS upgrade and would be loaded at each boot.(> Unlike the AXP, a VAX is a VAX, right?DI think that an Alpha is an Alpha too: both had an upwardly upgradedFarchitecture and both had their share of waivers issued (i.e. machinesDthat failed to implement some obscure corner of the architecture but"were allowed to get away with it).Antonio------------------------------%Date: Sat, 25 Dec 2004 12:26:46 +0100,From: "Hans Vlems" <hvlems.dotweg@zonnet.nl>Subject: Re: Thank You,Message-ID: <33515fF3qqdh8U1@individual.net>Sue,Ibesides VMS being a brilliant product, it is also designed, supported andused by very nice people.KThanks for your support and Merry Christmas and a Wonderful 2005 to you andyour HP collegues!Hans0<susan_skonetski@hotmail.com> schreef in bericht=news:1103774440.742399.310320@c13g2000cwb.googlegroups.com...> Dear Newsgroup,>A> Yesterday I sent this to the Boot Camp attendees and now to you>H> I wanted to use this opportunity to thank you for everything you do inG> supporting OpenVMS.
