Try this:   You can boot simh from the CD.F If so then you can probably remember if you created a system disk with support for L a cluster. If you did select cluster support, fine; otherwise do it all over again.5 Next, log in to the SIMH VAX and run @CLUSTER_CONFIG.  It's a two step approach: " 1 create a cluster capable machine* 2 add a boot root to the simh distribution  C Then: boot the real VAX off the SIMH VAX and transfer the VMS073.%,  TCPIP*.PCSI files L to a harddisk local to the real VAX. Copy them all to the [000000] directory of a hard disk. K Make sure you have two harddisks on the real VAX. The other one is going to 
 be the actual G system disk, so select the smallest disk to hold the distribution kits.    Final step: on SIMH VAX :   3 $ backup/image dka300:[000000]vms073.b/save dka100:   J When finished, boot the real vax from DKA100 and continue the installation
 procedure.  I Legally you need a VAXcluster license on both machines to make this work.  Technically L you don't need them. The VMS- B oriented ones were excellent.  There was also a session on how to D disassemble/reassemble the rx2600.  No tools are required, but it's - not immediately obvious how it goes together.    There were a few surprises:   E - The return value from F$GETSYI("HW_MODEL") was zero.  This required C   me to change a whole bunch of DCL code which branched for VAX vs.    "not VAX".  E - The return value from F$GETSYI("ARCH_NAME") was "IA64", not "IA-64" <   as previously documented.  Some sort of trademark issue...  E - Calls to cli$dcl_parse were broken.  All along, the second argument D   was supposed to be a pointer to an "extern int".  However, passingA   a pointer to an external function would work because the linker D   didn't care.  In the ELF standard, a pointer to data is completely<   different from a pointer to code.  This was a known issue.  C - There's a difference between Itanium and Alpha/VAX license PAK's. E   If you have a license for PAKGEN from DSPP, you'll need a different A   one to create licenses on Itanium.  And the licenses you create A   will be different, too.  PAK's created on Alpha can't be loaded 3   on Itanium. It should have been me, but itL was held in Mass.  The guy that went won't be able to do much with the code,O but at least we get the itanium.  Even if he doesn't get much out of it, that's O still a much better deal than the previous dspp deal of 5000 for the box alone.   I I guess I will go on my own dime as well, so I can get a box here (I'm in L Houston, SP32 is near Boston).  I will just try to priceline/travelocity the
