I'm veryH> interested in hearing any suggestions about this idea, especially fromfolksc> who have tried to do this.KI'm not the SUN admin, but I do handle our EVA5000 configurations. We have5three different Solaris systems connected to the EVA.e>L> The folks who are specifying the Sun systems also have Sun storage shelvesandtJ> disks, and another backup product in mind. This one had the brown PCB board instead of the Green one. All theDRmarkings seemed identical, except for one chip (the one with the round heat sink).9I put it into the 3100-30 and low and behold, it worked !tBMan, what a difference it makes to have 1280*1024 versus 1024*864.IOf course, this is still just 8 bit colour, but the windows look far more-Cmodern since no dithering is needed versus the black/white version.iIStrange to see a real LK201 and a hockey puck mouse sitting in front of a"modern LCD screen :-)sI(Got a NEC multisync 1980sx. Almost all the multisyncs have Sinc on GreenIJcapabilities, as well as on screen menus to configure screen. It magically8adapts to the video signal (screen size, frequency etc).MInterestingly, the xsetroot -bitmap option doesn't work with a b/w bitmap onithe colour screen. hJSo now I have to compile XV on my vax, a process that will probably take 2$weeks of constant CPU usage :-) :-) K(I am collecting all required fixes to please the compiler and will forward-them to Mr Dyson).------------------------------End of INFO-VAX 2004.308************************
