The lf character will be intact inside the file. You should then setJfile/attrib to either a fixed 512 with rat=none or to undefined rfm (whichLshould have been the default for binary files from the start - the undefinedLrecord format is much underused considering it is the perfect fit to receiveKbinary blobs of data. (but this may have required a fix to the CRTL so thatMyou could read such files without getting the dreaded biffer isn't big enoughto hold a record message).------------------------------#Date: Sat, 19 Jun 2004 16:48:24 GMT-From: JF Mezei <jfmezei.spamnot@teksavvy.com>6Subject: TCPIP: difficulty with a microsoft POP server@Message-ID: <47169fb8e8d5d5f56850146872366932@news.teranews.com>MI have to pickup email from a microsoft based POP server. This seemed to workIfine with my software for some time, but in the past week, it "broke". ItIfirst IO thought it was just an illformed SPAM, but then I lost blatantly-legitimate emails (I don't get much traffic).NMy software would just pickup part of the header and then consider the messagesuccesfully delivered.JBut now, I did a test of a simple text message about 60 lines long, and myNsoftware pickups the header and the first line of text, which is terminated byNa few garbage characters. My software does not delete the message, which meansLthat it either found an error (but didn't log it), or its DELE x command wasdiscarded by the pop server.MSo my software continues to pickup that same message over and over again, and*it always exhibits the exact same problem.NA telnet/port=110 does not work on microsoft servers because they think that aNpacket contains a line and nothing more. So when you send the first charactersLof the USER <user> command, it complains that U is an invalid command. I wasJhowever able to issue the SET MODE=LINE command for the telnet program, atNwhich point I am able to manually communicate with the microsoft software, andthe message appears all intact.MBefore I delve into all of this, has anyone else experienced similar problems:trying to communicate with a microsoft server over TCPIP ?J(This software has worked well over the years talking to various ISPs, butPthis time, I am forced to pickup some merssages from that damned microsoft box.)Any hints would be appreciated.------------------------------End of INFO-VAX 2004.339************************&BHWy3C9J<w
