If know that in earlier versions of VMS if the I primary page or swap files were too fragmented the boot process couldn't  A map to all the extents. I always give  + MODPARAMS a good clean out after upgrading.   E An upgrade also takes your nicely formatted MODPARAMS statements such  as   SCSSYSTEMID=(1024 * 42) + 123    and writes them later on as    SCSSYSTEMID=43131   @ This can also lead to frustration.
