This is part of a subroutine thatNtakes the contents of a logical (whose name is passed as p1 to the subroutine,Kand in my case OPC$LOGIFILE_CLASSES and then expands it to a single symbol,;and then pass that symbol back to define the other logical. Why ? I realised why.3$DEFINE OPC$LOGFILE_CLASSES "CENTRAL,PRINTER",OPER1will result in :8$DEFINE OPC$ENABLE_LOGFILE_CLASSES CENTRAL,PRINTER,OPER1WI.E. it normalises the input format (string of coma separated items, versus searchlist)F> I cannot find any .COM which calls VMS$DEVICE_STARTUP.COM, so assume> it's done from within a .EXE.MIt would be called after sylogicals. And its found in SYS$STARTUP:VMS$VMS.DATG. And by the way, At first glance, I couldn't even find how STARTUP.COMbranches to handle p1= OPCOM. J> Does one system have a graphics head and the other not? I've had troubleH> with OPC logicals being ignored on systems with graphics heads before.KThe one with the graphics head does have the OPC logical defined for a longLtime. I had asked this question here some time ago and though I had resolvedKthe issue. Obviously, probably after a reboot of the microvax II (which has the oprator.log) things changed.I> I've always assumed that some of the code says something like "Graphics;> present, so it's a workstation, suppress OPCOM messages".KIt supresses OPAO messages. But OPCOM still works and sends its messages toHother OPCOMs in the cluster, and the opcom on node VELO 9 the all mightyMmicrovax II) does log opcom messages issued by node bike. So that part works.NWhat is not documented is whether the OPC$LOGFILE_CLASSES is used by the OPCOMMon the node where teh message is being generated, or used on node where OPCOMactually writes to a file.------------------------------%Date: Fri, 26 Mar 2004 17:24:13 -0400From: John Doe <jdoe@doe.org>&Subject: Re: OPCOM Operator.log oddity'Message-ID: <40649F7B.656B9CDA@doe.org>David M Smith wrote:R> Yes.
