You will undoubtedly conceptualize this in the form<of a comparison to that with which you are familiar on Unix.EAt that point, if you want advanced information about some particularHarea of VMS you will have the background to know what terms to look for.------------------------------#Date: Sun, 28 Aug 2005 16:37:25 GMT(From: Alan Greig <greigaln@netscape.net>%Subject: simh with logical networking=Message-ID: <9LlQe.35285$jr4.20516@fe3.news.blueyonder.co.uk>HOne big problem with simh is that it needs a dedicated network card and Ian external bridge to communicate back with the host PC (a limitation of the Windows pcap drivers).GHowever colinux (Linux under Windows) supplies its own logical network Iadapter "TAP-Win32 Adapter V8 (colinux)" which Linux then attaches to as Fif it were a real physical ethernet card. Attaching to this from simh (rather than a dedicated card also works!FSo I now save the use of two ethernet cards and a crossover cable and Aall hosts can still communicate. For example Mozilla under Linux Gaccessing web pages served by WASD under VMS with the display directed Gto Cygwin/X under Windows. All hosts have internet access with Windows Lproviding NAT-routing and incoming services as allowed in firewall settings.0There seems to be no performance penalty either.--
