From what I can tell, the install of VMS and theFLICENSE REGISTER of VMS all went well. (The reason I'm mentioning thisBis: I don't know what VMS says when it's booted and the LICENSE is,invalid - maybe it double excepts at CPU 0.)GI checked this group's correspondence and the closest thing I found wasJan 10, 4:53 pm by Tom Crabtree(http://groups.google.com/group/comp.os.vms/browse_thread/thread/54134e495e95368d/cb5b5c51616da0d2?q=double+exception+from+CPU+0+&rnum=1#cb5b5c51616da0d2)0which didn't seem particularly applicable to me.>From what I can see:)- DRA0 (ALPHASYS) is the right boot disk.5- The system does say a "valid boot block was found".B- Not a lot of IO activity goes on before the exception (SBB lightdoesn't flash).%Anyone got any ideas or suggestions ?Chuck------------------------------%Date: Sun, 25 Dec 2005 21:15:10 -05004From: "Peter Weaver" <newsgroup@weaverconsulting.ca>$Subject: Re: DUMP/OUTPUT strangeness7Message-ID: <PmIrf.229$l87.33630@news20.bellglobal.com>L"Phillip Helbig---remove CLOTHES to reply" <helbig@astro.multiCLOTHESvax.de>/wrote in message news:dok3pp$m9v$1@online.de...	> If I do>> $ DUMP *.HTML>$> then I get what I expect. In older versions of VMS you would have found the lastGfile dumped in X.X;0, the second last would have been in X.X;-1 and theKfirst would have been in X.X;-0. But I just tried it on VMS 8.2 and all theKfiles were dumped in X.X;0. I'm not sure when it changed but a .COM I wrote!17-DEC-1985 doesn't work on V8.2.------------------------------ Date: 25 Dec 2005 11:12:11 -0800'From: "Schnootling" <chuckm@dis.wa.gov>@Subject: Re: Unable to LICENSE REGISTER new VMS license on AlphaCMessage-ID: <1135537931.117006.267130@z14g2000cwz.googlegroups.com>Fellas,Thanks for the advice.AI Googled the DEFINE command. It seems that I need to replace theBstring "VMS" with the name of my system disk (ALPHASYS or somesuchauto-generated thingee).&I tried this, but got the same result. So, my command was :DEFINE/SYSTEM/EXEC LMF$LICENSE,disk:[ALPHASYS$COMMON.SYSEXE]LMF$LICENSE.LDB6I'd do a re-install of VMS if I thought it would help.>My apologies if this is bugging you guys. ForHinstance, when you installed VMS from CD, it would have prompted you forAthe disk drive name on which to put the system. (the drive letter1usually begins with a D such as DUA0, DKA200 etc)6Also, you need disk:[VMS$COMMON.SYSEXE]LMF$LICENSE.LDBDYou can do a DIR disk:[VMS$COMMON.SYSEXE] and you should see a whole8bunch of files there. If it, then your "disk" is wrong.GYou can also do DIR disk:[000000]*.dir and this will give you a list ofFthe top level directories. You should see VMS$COMMON.DIR for instance.------------------------------ Date: 25 Dec 2005 15:40:12 -0800'From: "Schnootling" <chuckm@dis.wa.gov>@Subject: Re: Unable to LICENSE REGISTER new VMS license on AlphaCMessage-ID: <1135554012.259682.160840@o13g2000cwo.googlegroups.com>Thanks JF, and everyone else,I think it worked: DEFINE/SYSTEM/EXEC LMF$LICENSE -'DRA0:[VMS$COMMON.SYSEXE]LMF$LICENSE.LDBEBy "think", I mean I didn't get any error message (or any message for
