I have also sent email to each of the entries in the contact list> with no response.>> Is the site abandoned?AI rarely read c.o.v. but sometimes I get told about a thread thatEprobably bears my attention. Through the thread, related issues have5been raised, and some response here would be helpful:FI see two messages from you that arrived while *I* was on vacation. IGjust got back tonight. As mentioned, the hobbyist program is a program@for and by hobbyists (okay, professionals, too, but the hobbyistBsupport is done as a ... hobby). The site isn't abandoned, and asGindicated by others, the OpenVMS system on which it is running is stillGdoing it's job accepting and processing PAK requests. From one of yourGmessages, appearently there is a problem with MSN not accepting e-mails+of PAKs. Unfortunately, I can't help that.Other details of interest:AAs I stated before, the OpenVMS Hobbyist Program is a program FORFHobbyists *BY* Hobbyists. DEC/COMPAQ/HP does not provide any funding.GDEC/COMPAQ/HP does not manage this program. DEC/COMPAQ/HP blessed thisGprogram via providing a Hobbyist License, and as long as we play by theCrules, we the Hobbyists are allowed to self-manage the program, andDhave since May 1997. This is a statement of faith and trust that no#other company has ever done before.EThe OpenVMS Hobbyist Database is indeed completely independent of anyGparticipating chapter, including Encompass. Since it's independent, theCchapters need to update us on new members. This can take a while.AEncompass, for instance, generally provides a database dump everyBFriday, which is usually updated that day. Other chapters are moreAsporatic. If you are not in the database, please check with yourBChapter as to if/when an update will be provided. If provided, beEpatient, as this isn't a full-time job. Perhaps having the page show=the last time your Chapter had an update would be beneficial?DAnd for those into the technical details, we use CSWS/PHP on OpenVMSCfor the web server, and the OpenVMS Port of MySQL for the database.GMadgoat MX SITE interface is used to actually mail the completed PAK's.@ If you use MySQL on OpenVMS, don't use MYISAM based tables, useInnoDB. Make it the default.BStatus of requests? In general, not a bad idea. However, in thisGinstance, not horribly useful. As soon as you are validated, the PAK'sCare generated and e-mailed. Right then. As one poster noted, fromGtime to request to inbox is as little as 5 minutes. There is no manual@approval process or manual PAK generation process that has to beBperformed, so there is no delay from "submitted" to "request being9processed". An update on the FAQ is probably called for.FHowever, setting up a username/password for the site to get additionalFfeatures has merit, and with Sue now being the contact person for theDHobbyist Program, she has some plans which make it time to implement
some of this.------------------------------$Date: Thu, 7 Jul 2005 20:30:15 -0400#From: "Hal Kuff" <kuff@comcast.net>.Subject: Issue Installing Encryption Software?0Message-ID: <11cri8o9a8dsn1f@corp.supernews.com>IThe listing of the product install seemed to work OK, but the install on G7.3-2 does not... has anyone seen this?
