A valid Hargument. Not quite so valid after David's suggestion. They could say D"We are making these products part of the base VMS product, and for <those on older versions here are PAKs that will make it so."HThen there is the concept that some have paid for this in the past, and Iit's not fair to give it to others. Well, giving it away in 8.2 is much =the same thing. Not 100% the same, but almost 100% the same.GI have my own suspicions about such practices. HP doesn't want people Cstaying on their VAX and Alpha hardware. There will be many small B'thorns' for those on VAX and Alpha. Sometimes just a refusal to Eprovide things for VAX and Alpha that are provided for itanic, which Icould be done with little or no extra effort. We've seen this before at DEC.EIn this case, it seems that for 8.2 on Alpha the product is bundled. Dtherefore the customer is entitled to the product if they have 8.2. ECohering customers to upgrade what they're running, not what they've Fpaid for, isn't real helpful. In this case HP has already gotten the $'current income'. Why ask for more?-- 4David Froble Tel: 724-529-04504Dave Froble Enterprises, Inc. Fax: 724-529-0596>DFE Ultralights, Inc.
