This is a hobbyist system so its notunder support.GFWIW there is a sort of equivalent compaint concerning somewhat similar>symptoms under linux on bugzilla (#283372), but no response orBassignment yet. I added a comment to that one 'just in case', evenEthough its linux-based because of another message that mentioned thatBthe linux port also creates a new training.dat file every time youEtrain it (as VMS seems to do). I do have two email accounts under myDprofile (both are POP3 service from ISPs) so perhaps there really isCsome kind of bug when using more than one account within a profile.@PWS600au, 1GB, OpenVMS V7.3-1, full patched (at the start of theproblem)>PWS600au, 1GB, OpenVMS V7.3-2, Update V4 only so far (current)GI was running Mozilla 1.5 until early this year. Last October the spamGfiltering training stopped working, but all previous training was stillCin force (and everything else kept working). If I clicked the junkBbutton, or the junk marker on the inbox listing line, I'd get diskGactivity but the message would not get marked as junk (or cleared), and,the training.dat file would not get updated.BThe problem survived upgrades to Mozilla V1.7, and the current SWBFV1.7.8 (with preceding VMS upgrade to V7.3-2). I had five versions ofGthe 'training.dat' file in my profile root directory, last date createdCor modified was 31-Oct-2004. Security on the files was same as theCothers in the directory (WRED, WRED, RE, )and there were no versionFlimits. Current file version was 2481, and it was 4134/4140 blocks insize.?I ran CSWB with SET WATCH/CLASS=ALL FILE, and had the followingresults:+ A lookup for LIBBAYESFLT_TV.SO failed.: TRAINING.DAT was accessed for read only, successfullyDEverything else 'looked' successful. There is a LIBBAYESFLT.SO fileFpresent in SYS$COMMON:[CSWB.COMPONENTS], and it is protected as (WRED,BWRED, RE, RE), but there is no _TV version of that file. The onlyFplace I've seen "_TV" files in the past were those translated from VAXGto Alpha using VEST/DECMigrate... A google search turned up nothing onthis filename.GI tried renaming the training.dat file (no change, new file not createdFbut no error reported), creating a new empty training.dat file (causedAinbound spam to not be marked as expected, but still no change inFbehavior; I can't mark a message as spam, and the training.dat file is&still at 0 blocks with no data input).CRight now my other Alpha is stuck at V7.1 for working on a customerAsystem that is similarly held back, so I can't set up a duplicateBconfiguration. I am going to try creating a new user account (andBprofile) to see what happens, when I can (I have to create new POP@accounts at work or on one of the ISPs to have something to testagainst, it'll take a bit)GAny thoughts? Anyone else had a similar problem? Perhaps a better way%to go about finding out what's wrong?Thanks!------------------------------%Date: Mon, 27 Jun 2005 04:11:33 +00007From: David B Sneddon - bigpond <dbsneddon@bigpond.com>8Subject: Re: Problem with spam filtering in Mozilla/CSWB*Message-ID: <42BF7C75.6030403@bigpond.com>(jordan@ccs4vms.com mentioned in passing:I> I'm going to post this here first because I haven't found any referenceE> to this problem anywhere, so it may not be multiplatform; if nobodyI> here knows I'll post to bugzilla. Fillm should beGonly about 128, then varied in increments of 10. Diolm has been reducedEfrom a MINIMUM of 4096 to 100, then to be varied in increments of 10.F(An "anonymous source" recommends setting it to 32667). The 8.2 manualDalso says large values can cause disk I/O subsystem hangs or resets.2(OK, maybe this is a new discovery, but for what?)GAnd all this effort to achieve a speed increase of "typically less than15%".(What's changed? Why such big variations?7One totally new thing is that the 8.2 manual recommends $ SET RMS/BUFFER=127/EXTEND=5000Dfor on-disk save sets. I recently tried SET RMS/EXTEND=16000 (beforeCreading this from the 8.2 manual) and cut the elapsed time in half!?Even a value of 1000 cut is almost in half. I will soon try theCrecommended buffer qualifier. So this is good to see in the manual.thanks------------------------------End of INFO-VAX 2005.356************************
