In fact, you should be able to do that AND Iput it all onto a CD, so that the user can run windows most of the time, Iand reboot, pop in the CD, and presto - they have an "X-terminal". SLAX Hin particular is very easy to configure for this sort of thing since it Eprovides a mechanism for dropping files in "on top" of the Slackware standard ones.> 8> Is there a nifty way to establish a connection to a PC> running xfree?CNormally it's the other way around: something on the PC connects toGthe X11 client (your VMS machine) and starts up a program that in turn Ggoes to the PC's X11 server. So in the login sequence (runs after X11 1starts) you'd have a script doing something like:5ssh -X -l $USERNAME "DCL_send_decwindows_back_to_me".EYou could also configure X11 to let the remote VMS machine manage theGX11 server, so that a DECWINDOWS login screen would come up on it. This was a stopgap card, since the Qlogic FCDsupport wasn't ready yet. I don't remember if V8.1 continued LP9802Isupport or not. V8.2 and later (on Itanium) definitely DON'T support anyHEmulex FC cards. Unfortunately, there are some situations in V8.2 where=the Emulex card seems to be involved in causing some crashes.JFor supported FC on Itanium, you need the Qlogic 2 port, 2 Gbit/sec card. If it usesDthe same FC chip as the A6826A, there's a good chance the VMS deviceHdriver will work. For boot support, you'll have to have the EFI driver,Ewhich is in a flash ROM on the A6826A. Cards targeted at non-ItaniumJplatforms are sometimes cost-reduced by leaving off the ROM, or by using a+smaller ROM and not loading the EFI driver.------------------------------$Date: Wed, 9 Nov 2005 08:31:46 +0100(From: "Rudolf Wingert" <win@fom.fgan.de><Subject: Re: ZFS from Sun, what's about a new FS for OpenVMS3Message-ID: <000f01c5e4ff$a3d0ca10$994614ac@wat153>Hello,>I am working at an institute for pattern recognition and imageAunderstanding.
