OBTW, check toD see if there's a voltage label or if you can, measure the voltage with the fan unplugged.F These fans tend to be fairly standard parts, but they do vary as to> whether they have a feedback lead, and may vary as to power requirements.D OBTW, if you're soldering it I recommend you spend a few cents onD some heat shrink insulation instead of using tape. I picked up aB package last time I was in an auto parts shop, it's not hard toB find. Otherwise a pre-insulated crimp-on connection should do.------------------------------%Date: Thu, 27 Oct 2005 08:23:26 -0700'From: David Mathog <mathog@caltech.edu>"Subject: Re: Need PS Fan for AS200+Message-ID: <djqrde$dsb$1@naig.caltech.edu>David J Dachtera wrote:> Folks,> E> My little Alpha developed a problem: the fan in the power supply no/> longer spins freely. Look at the markings on the fan to find out voltages,?currents, and the like. There are ALWAYS markings, although the, ones you want may be hidden under a sticker.A3. Find a replacement fan (it doesn't have to be a perfect match)?4. Install the replacement in (some soldering may be required).EBefore replacing it see if there's a tiny hole for adding oil. A fewDfans are like that. If you have one try a drop of oil and see if itstarts working again.AI've replaced fans this task on many power supplies and it's not Hterribly difficult to do. Just be careful that you don't touch anythingGother than the fan, as there can be charged capacitors inside the powerBsupply. If you're really lucky the fan will use the same type of Iconnector as is used to plug into PC motherboards, in which case you can Geasily get a fan with those connectors, and you won't even have to cut Gany wires. If you're unlucky (about half the time) the connector will Fbe something you've never seen before, can't find in any catalog, and Ghave no hope whatsoever of obtaining. For those there's nothing wrong Hwith cutting the wires, slipping on some shrink tube, soldering the new Dwires on, and then pulling the shrink tube down and shrinking it to Iinsulate. I'm not a fan of either electrical tape or connector nuts for this application.Regards,David Mathogmathog@caltech.edu------------------------------ Date: 27 Oct 2005 05:54:44 -0700From: shoppa@trailing-edge.com+Subject: Re: Quick prototype perl from DCL?CMessage-ID: <1130417684.782330.231310@o13g2000cwo.googlegroups.com>5> While many of them might well be best reimplemented5> in compiled languages, a quick pass DCL->Perl tool,4> something to get the basics converted and then let8> the programmer concentrate on the details, is desired. The devil is in the details....What do the DCL scripts do?GIf there is a lot of simplistic query/response stuff then the "porting">is going to be very different than if it deals with a bunch of?VMS-specific logicals/lexicals that twiddles VMS indexed files.GThe Boston Business Computing VCL shell works nicely for many purposes.Tim.------------------------------%Date: Thu, 27 Oct 2005 02:50:25 -0400-From: JF Mezei <jfmezei.spamnot@teksavvy.com><Subject: TCPIP: OPCOM message for *any* connection request ?,Message-ID: <43607887.D6048124@teksavvy.com>DI know how you can set a service to emit an opcom message whenever aconnection request comes in.HBut is there a way at a lower level (interface for instance) to have theHstack emit an opcom message for any connection request to any port, even'ports that have no service configured ?HFor traffic coming from the internet, I can use the router for this.
