I forget which jack is the console port. > Try the left most one.> EYou also might try resetting to the defaults, then checking the baud Irate, parity and stop bits. Normally, out of the box, MicroVAXen should Dbe 9600 baud, no parity and 1 stop bit. XON/XOFF is the usual flow control mechanism.HAs other folks have said, you should get output from the console fairly Gquickly after power-up. Your system should go through a count-down of F"tests" prior to boot. Something like "44, 43, 43..." or "2...1...0"IYou might also get a "menu" asking for you to input a numeric equivalent /for what language you want your console to use.EThere should be a "window" on the back of the system near the center Eclose to the bottom of the back panel (nearer the power cord) with a Igroup of eight LEDs. If you aren't getting anything (including terminal Dgibberish) check these lights to see if their "display" has a fixed Epattern. This could indicate that you've got some problem, probably Ghardware, on the system. Try the various MMJ ports on the back of the Isystem to see if you get any response even if the LED display is "fixed" Hjust to see if you've booted and had the wrong port all along. You may Halso have more than one MMJ port on the back of your VT320. You should Guse the one marked with the two arrows and not the one with the little printer.GThe 3100-40 is one of the newer MicroVAXen and the console is somewhat Imore capable than earlier VAXen of the same general size. You should be Hable to use commands like SHOW MEM, SHOW DEVICE, SHOW BOOT (shows which Fdevice you'll boot from), SHOW BFLG (boot flags to select system root 9and VMB boot flags), HALT, UNJAM, INIT and possibly HELP.------------------------------End of INFO-VAX 2005.523************************
