I'll try these tricks next call! (including the Rumplestiltskintrick way above)Here's my recent story:CI've had some problems recently with Verizon DSL. Thursday night itBdidn't work. Upon attempting to connect I got "Error 629, port wasGdisconnected by remote machine." I tried their diagnostic program whichGtold me my modem was dead. Tech support agreed but said it could be theGcable. Went out to get a new cable, but that didn't work. Friday (whileEat work) I ordered a new modem. When I got home from work, everythingFwas working fine! There was nothing wrong with the modem after all. ItCwas a Verizon DSL outage. So now I have to cancel my modem order onMonday!EAlso: After things were working, I tried Verizon's diagnostic programDagain and it STILL said the modem was bad! I asked one of their techGguys what gives and he said it's just a program to give information. Uhhuh.JAUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!=The phone calls themselves always start out with the annoyingFvoice-response crap. And in one call I had to give my DSL phone numberB3 times. Isn't the first time enough? Don't computers talk to eachCother nowadays? ;-) And wouldn't it make sense to display the phoneEnumber on the human's computer monitor? You really just want to startCwith a human, of course. Except sometimes the human isn't that goodeither!'Technology can't make up for stupidity.AEF------------------------------%Date: Sun, 13 Aug 2006 08:31:44 -0400)From: "Neil Rieck" <n.rieck@sympatico.ca>ASubject: Intel Tukwila (itanic) suffers from political squabbling<Message-ID: <44df1a93$0$24194$9a6e19ea@news.newshosting.com>8Intel Tukwila (itanic) suffers from political squabbling5http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=33650K(So they are trying to go quad-core but to do it they have to drop the CPU Ifrom 4.5 GHz to 2.5?
